Why Oral Appliances?

Oral Appliances are an effective modern modality for the treatment of Sleep Apnea that are easy to use, portable and convenient.

By subtly repositioning your jaw and tongue, oral appliances keep your airway open more naturally and help you get the oxygen you need at night. OAs also allow you to sleep as you otherwise would, without obstructing your movement and have been proven to relieve symptoms for individuals with mild-moderate Sleep Apnea.

Finding the Right Appliance

Using an oral appliance that's not only designed by a long-standing and innovative manufacturer but is designed to fit your unique needs is essential to having a successful treatment journey

Untreated Sleep Apnea

If you don’t treat your sleep apnea, you might create serious short- and long-term health effects, such as increased risk for hypertension, stroke and heart attack.

New Sleep Apnea Solution

Cosmetic dentist Dr. Sid Solomon shares an alternative to the common CPAP machine that is prescribed to millions of Americans to treat their sleep apnea. He shares that many people stop wearing their CPAP mask at night just after three weeks of wearing it.

FAQs

Common Questions from our Patients

Why are "boil and bite" devices not recommended?

At Moondrift Sleep Solutions, we have evolved our approach to better serve our patients and provide the highest level of care. Recognizing the limitations of prefabricated "boil and bite" devices for sleep apnea treatment, we now exclusively offer custom oral appliances that are meticulously crafted to fit each individual's specific requirements. These personalized solutions not only deliver superior comfort and effectiveness but also ensure that facial structure remains intact while effectively addressing sleep apnea symptoms.

What if I already have a sleep study and an OSA diagnosis from my doctor?

If you've had a sleep study and/or Obstructive Sleep Apnea diagnosis from your doctor within the last year, then at your consultation appointment we will be able to start fabrication of your oral appliance! Our doctors will still have to review your symptoms and ask you questions about your sleep habits to determine which device type will suit you best.

I usually wear a retainer at night.  Will my teeth start shifting if I switch to a different OA?

Typically, no. Patients who wear removable orthodontic retainers will be able to subsitute an oral appliance for sleep apnea without risking a shift back. Bonded wire retainers however, may interfere with the fit of an appliance. If you are in that position, our doctors are trained in orthodontics and will discuss your options at your first visit.

Will my insurance cover an oral appliance for sleep apnea?

Almost all dental insurance policies end up not covering these types of oral appliance after much time and appeal. Moondrift Sleep Solutions has therefore decided to lower the fees and offer devices directly to our patients at a reduced flat cost, as opposed to billing insurance.

Medical insurances have started covering many sleep apnea devices as of 2023. As a specialist dental office, we do not bill to medical insurances but we are happy to provide you the documentation that you need to file a claim as the member, should you decide to do so on your own.
